Lake Mead National Recreation Area - Lake Mead National Recreation Area will keep any visitor busy. The huge lake attracts fishermen, boaters, swimmers, and sunbathers while the desert surrounding the lake interests wildlife photographers, hikers, and roadside sightseers.
The area is a stunning contrast of desert and water, mountains and canyons. Three of America's four desert ecosystems, the Mojave, the Great Basin, and the Sonoran Desert, meet in Lake Mead National Recreation Area making an area that would seemingly be barren full of a variety of plants and animals. Some of these may be found nowhere else in the world. The dramatic beauty of the area's rugged, isolated backcountry, striking canyons, dry washes, sheer cliffs, and distant mountain ranges makes Lake Mead National Recreation Area a wonderful place to visit.
